The Bloch Award honors a graduate of the English Department holding Israeli citizenship, who served in the Israeli Defense Forces and who completed the B.A. program in the department with distinction. Dr. Tuvia Bloch, a Senior Lecturer in English Literature, was born in 1926 in Cape Province, South Africa. Dr. Bloch was one of the founders of the Department of English at Tel Aviv University, and played a major role in shaping its program of studies.
