The Henkin prize is awarded to an outstanding student in the English Department.

Gil Zev Henkin was born in 1941 in Reading, Pennsylvania. He received his B.A. degree from Columbia University, and his PhD from Brandeis University, and served as a lecturer in the English Department during the 1964-65 academic year. He passed away in 1967.
