רקע אקדמי:
מחקרו של ד"ר זאב לוין עוסק בתחום תולדות יהודי המזרח, מרכז אסיה והמרחב האיראני. ד"ר לוין הינו בעל רקע אקדמי רחב וניסיון מחקרי מצטבר רב־שנים. את לימודיו האקדמיים השלים במוסדות להשכלה גבוהה בישראל ובחו״ל, בהם רכש הכשרה היסטורית, לשונית וארכיונית מקיפה. לאורך השנים עסק במחקר בין־תחומי המשלב היסטוריה חברתית ותרבותית, חקר זהויות, זיכרון קולקטיבי ותיעוד קהילות יהודיות שנעלמו או נמצאות בתהליכי היעלמות.
ד"ר לוין פרסם מאמרים וערך כרכים מדעיים בכתבי עת והוצאות אקדמיות מובילות, יזם והוביל פרויקטי מחקר ותיעוד בינלאומיים, וארגן כנסים וסדנאות מחקר בשיתוף מוסדות אקדמיים בישראל, במרכז אסיה, בקווקז ובאירופה. לצד פעילותו המחקרית, הוא פועל לחיזוק שיתופי פעולה אקדמיים בינלאומיים ולהנגשת הידע המחקרי הן בזירה האקדמית והן בקרב הציבור הרחב.
