אגן הים התיכון ואירופה בעת החדשה המוקדמת- היבטים חברתיים וכלכליים; היהודים במושבות הוונציאניות ביוון; תרבות הרנסאנס באיטליה; תולדות היחס לבעלי חיים בתרבות המערב; במרכז גולדשטיין-גורן אחראי על פרויקט המחקר על יהודי כרתים בתקופת השלטון הוונציאני (בין המאה ה-13 למאה ה-17).

רקע אקדמי:

בעל דוקטורט מהאוניברסיטה העברית (1982), לשעבר מופקד קתדרת סלוניקי להיסטוריה ותרבות של יהודי יוון ועורך שותף של כתבי עת וסדרות ספרים בין לאומיים. פרסם קרוב למאה פרסומים מדעיים, רובם בבמות שונות בחו"ל.
