Philosophy, Science and Digital Culture
"Philosophy, Science and Digital Culture" is an intensive study program for a non-thesis M.A. degree at the Cohn Institute for the History and Philosophy of Sciences and Ideas. It is one of the first programs in the world and the only one of its kind in Israel that deals with the implications and consequences of advanced digital technologies and futuristic ideas from the critical perspective of the Humanities.
The program offers a comprehensive ensemble of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary courses, integrating various analytical and interpretive methods for contextualizing and evaluating the interrelations and intersections between science, technology, politics, economics, sociology, media, and communication in digital culture.
Our curriculum combines both classical and modern philosophy with contemporary digital discourse, connecting past, present and future future, and expanding students’ intellectual horizon beyond the common and familiar thinking about digital phenomena and technological innovations.
This program is primarily designed for high level professionals and executives in media and communication, economics and high-tech, education and public service, marketing and advertising, etc., who have a bachelor's and/or master's degree, and are interested in enriching their knowledge and expanding their intellectual horizons.
Studies extend over one year or three semesters (fall, spring, and summer), and take place on Thursdays between 15:00-21:00, and on Fridays between 08:00-14:00.
Graduates acquire a master's degree in the History and Philosophy of Science and Ideas and are eligible to write a thesis under the supervision of the Cohn Institute, should they wish to do so.
