מידע כללי

Yair Lipshitz is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Theatre Arts in Tel Aviv University, and the academic director of Tel Aviv University Theatre.
 

Yair's main field of research is the intersections between theatre, performance and Jewish religious traditions. His book, The Holy Tongue, Comedy's Version: Intertextual Dramas on the Stage of 'A Comedy of Betrothal', was published (in Hebrew) by Bar-Ilan University Press, as part of the “Interpretation and Culture” series. His second book, Embodied Tradition: Theatrical Performances of Jewish Texts (in Hebrew) was published by Ben Gurion University Press. His most recent book is Theatre & Judaism (2019) in Red Globe's (formerly Palgrave) Theatre& series. Yair has also published papers dealing with a variety of topics, from Jewish-Italian theatre in the Renaissance to to the reception of King Lear and Salome in modern Hebrew theatre, and from messianic time in Jewish drama to the queering of Scripture in Angels in America.
