מידע כללי

פרופ' יוסף שורץ ממרצה במכון להיסטוריה ופילוסופיה של המדעים והרעיונות ע"ש כהן באוניברסיטת תל אביב שבראשו עמד בשנים 2009 – 2015. מאז שנת 2015 מכהן כראש ביה"ס לפילוסופיה בלשנות ולימודי מדע.

מחקרו מתמקד בהיסטוריה אינטלקטואלית אירופית בימי הביניים המאוחרים וראשית העת החדשה בדגש מיוחד על מעברי ידע ומעברים טקסטואליים בין התרבויות והשפות השונות. הוא חקר את המחשבה הסכולסטית הנוצרית של ימי הביניים המאוחרים ואת התגבשות מוסדות הידע האוניברסיטאי וקהילות הידע השונות, את הסכולסטיקה הלטינית והעברית, זרמים מיסטיים יהודים ונוצרים בימי הביניים וראשית העת החדשה, הבראיזם נוצרי וקבלה נוצרית. כמו כן עסק בדפוסים של חילון ובאופן שבו הם משתקפים בהיסטוריוגרפיה האירופאית, יהודית ונוצרית, בעת החדשה.

 

מפרסומיו: נשף מסיכות בעיר האלוהים: פלורליזם וסובלנות בימי הביניים, תל אביב: משרד הבטחון והוצאת מודן 2006. לאחרונה ראה אור בהוצאת בריל קובץ של מאמרים ומהדורות ביקורתיות בעריכתו (ביחד עם אלקסנדר פידורה והרווי היימס) שעוסק בתרגום של טקסטים מדעיים ופילוסופיים מלטינית לעברית בימי הביניים [Yossef Schwartz, Alexander Fidora, Harvey J. Hames (eds.), Latin-Into-Hebrew: Studies and Texts, volume 2: Texts in Contexts, Leiden: Brill 2013. ] בימים אלה ראה אור בהוצאת כרמל קובץ מאמרים בעריכתו: מיתוס – שפה – התגלות. בעקבות הגותו של משה שוורץ, ירושלים: כרמל 2019

מחקרh מתמקד בהיסטוריה אינטלקטואלית אירופית בימי הביניים המאוחרים וראשית העת החדשה בדגש מיוחד על מעברי ידע ומעברים טקסטואליים בין התרבויות והשפות השונות. חקר המחשבה הסכולסטית הנוצרית של ימי הביניים המאוחרים והתגבשות מוסדות הידע האוניברסיטאי וקהילות הידע השונות, הסכולסטיקה הלטינית והעברית, זרמים מיסטיים יהודים ונוצרים בימי הביניים וראשית העת החדשה, הבראיזם נוצרי וקבלה נוצרית. כמו כן עסקתי בדפוסים של חילון ובאופן שבו הם משתקפים בהיסטוריוגרפיה האירופאית, יהודית ונוצרית, בעת החדשה.
